Pantone recently released its color of the year for 2019, replacing 2018’s Ultra Violet. The vibrant yet still mellow hue Living Coral (16-1546). Pantone described the color as embracing us with “warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment.” Living Coral and all the colors Pantone as predicted as being seasonal favorites are always a fun way to add a pop of color to your big day if you know how.
Colored Cake
Ditch the plain white wedding cake! Over the top wedding cakes are no longer just about the size and number of tiers but the all over design. Incorporating modern trends like marbling, geometrics and hand painted details in bold colors like Living Coral can create an eye catching dessert for your attendees.
Bridesmaid Arrangements
Try a fun and quirky look for your wedding by allowing your bridesmaids to carry bold colored bouquets in varying shades of your chosen colors. To make this technique work and look cohesive make sure the arrangements are the same shape and size to make a uniformed look between your friends while still having individual pops of color.
Delicious Deserts
“Sociable and spirited, the engaging nature of Living Coral welcomes and encourages lighthearted activity.” Pantone said of their bold hue, “Symbolizing our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits” Adding this lively color or any other warm shade of your choice creates a pulling effect so using these colors in areas such as a desert bar can draw guests without signs or signals leading them.
Dressed up Drinks
There are plenty of ways you can incorporate color into your drinks from the choice of straw handed out to the drink itself. Creating a signature drink for your bartender to make with a splash of your chosen color is a great way to allow guests to carry your color throughout the room while trying something uniquely you.
Powerful Paper
Pantone mentioned that Living Coral, “emits the desired, familiar, and energizing aspects of color found in nature. In its glorious, yet unfortunately more elusive, display beneath the sea, this vivifying and effervescent color mesmerizes the eye and mind.” What an enticing color! Be sure to carry your wedding theme though out your event from start to finish. Have a professional artist add this bold color to invitations, place cards, and more for the added pop before your event even begins.
While color can be fun it can also be overwhelming so regardless of the tips and techniques you choose remember to only embrace two or three colors. If you’re looking for more of a pop try two complementary colors like orange and blue, yellow and violet or red and green (Try varying hues to avoid a holiday effect).
“Living Coral is a nurturing color that appears in our natural surroundings and at the same time”
